Maidstone United boss John Still wants further Football League signings after landing West Brom defender Dan Meredith

John Still intends to make full use of his Football League contacts to help Maidstone.

New boss Still made West Brom right-back Dan Meredith his first signing, landing the 19-year-old on loan until the end of the season.

The Scotland youth international made his debut at Leyton Orient and is a player Still and head coach Hakan Hayrettin were keen to get in.

Still said: "I’ve taken players from West Brom before and so’s Hak.

"I have a good relationship with lots of clubs and West Brom is one of them.

"Darren Moore (Baggies boss) is someone we know very well and we've got a great relationship with Deon Burton, who looks after the kids there.

"We were looking for a natural right-sided defender but someone that can do two jobs, play wing-back or play full-back.

"Dan fitted the bill and he fitted the wage structure, which is always important, because it’s got to be in our budget and I understand that.

"We were happy that West Brom helped us with that."

Still will seek further help from Football League clubs as he works to strengthen his squad.

He said: "Absolutely, we do, for a few reasons.

"We do need men but sometimes you can 28 and be a boy, but you can be 19 and be a man.

"Whoever we bring in, we can’t have too many that are not quite there but are good players.

"We need one or two that are really there and are good players.”
