Maidstone Weightlifting Club enjoyed their most successful-ever competition at the British Age Group Championships in Yorkshire.
The club, based at the Bob Prowse gym in Tovil, returned from Harrogate with six British titles and seven British age group records.
Maidstone were the dominant force in the boys’ under-15 section with Tayla Hounsell winning the 55kg bodyweight class, lifting 65kg in the snatch and 85kg in the clean and jerk for a 150kg total, all three being British age group records.
Ed Skinner won the 61kg class, also setting three British records with a 70kg snatch and 88kg clean and jerk for a 158kg total.
Silver Ee took the 67kg class with an 85kg snatch and 110kg clean and jerk for a 195kg total. The clean and jerk was a new British record.
In the under-20s age group, Eron Murray won the 109kg class with a 223kg total, which included a 103kg personal best snatch.
Stanley Macintyre placed fourth in the under-15 81kg class.
In the girls’ section, there were British titles for Ophelia Harrison in the under-12 age group with a personal best 80kg total, and Amelia Green in the under-15s with a personal best 120kg total.
There was a second place for Elsie Macintyre in the under-15s and third place for Ruby Mercer in the under-17s.
Carys Harper placed sixth in the under-20 64kg class.
