Divine intervention brought Blair Turgott to Maidstone United.
Winger Turgott firmly believes God is driving his career, a point he made after his debut goal earned the Stones a point against his former club Bromley.
The former West Ham youngster has joined United on loan from Boreham Wood for the rest of the season.
It's been an up-and-down season for the 23-year-old who left Bromley for Stevenage last summer.
It didn't work at Boro and he was sent on loan to Boreham Wood - scoring against Maidstone in a 4-0 win at the Gallagher - before making the move permanent just before Christmas.
Once more he found himself out of the team and jumped at the chance to show everyone what he can do at Maidstone.
He said: "All these things, I just believe in faith really and I just know that sometimes you don't always understand why things are happening or the setbacks.
"But I think God has made me understand you've got to have faith and you've just got to know that wherever you are is where you're meant to be.
"I'm a strong believer in God. All glory to God.
"A lot of people see adversity and they think it's hard but I just take the rough with the smooth and I just understand there's always light at the end of the tunnel.
"I'm not the type of player that's going to sit around and not play.
"I need to be playing, I need to be showing people what I'm about and it got to the stage where I wasn't playing, I was on the bench.
"At this level I know I can make an impact and I'm just thankful the manager here wanted me to come in and agreed a loan deal.
"Football's a rollercoaster, as people say.
"Take the highs, take the lows as well. While I'm here I'm going to give 100% and try and kick on and get some good results."
