There is pressure on Maidstone when the two play-off winners meet in the National League.
That’s the opinion of manager Jay Saunders as United travel to Yorkshire to face village team North Ferriby on Saturday.
It’s a different challenge for Maidstone who, in the likes of York, Aldershot, Chester and Tranmere, have so far faced some of the biggest names in the division.
Ferriby are a place outside the bottom four on seven points, with United 15th on 11.
United beat Ebbsfleet on penalties in the National South play-off final while North Ferriby edged Fylde after extra-time in the North.
Saunders said: “This is probably the first time we go into a game with people expecting us to win, so there’s a bit of pressure on us.
“We’ve not had that with the teams we’ve been playing but, with the way the league is, in people’s eyes we’re favourites to go there and win.
“It’ll be a tough one, though. They’ve picked up the majority of their points at home, the pitch isn’t the greatest and they will probably be looking at us, being new to this league, as a team they can beat.”
Jamie Coyle is set to continue in central defence with Stones unlikely to risk Anthony Acheampong’s hamstring. Callum Driver (foot) is weeks from fitness but Stones have no other injury problems.
