Ex-Maidstone United winger Christie Pattisson enjoys winning start after joining Northern Irish club Glentoran

Former Maidstone winger Christie Pattisson has a new club - this time in Northern Ireland.

Pattisson, a National League South title-winner with the Stones in 2022, has signed an 18-month deal with Premiership high-fliers Glentoran.

It follows a successful spell with Waterford in the Republic of Ireland, the club he joined after leaving the Gallagher Stadium.

Pattisson, 27, made his Glentoran debut off the bench in a 2-0 League Cup quarter-final win over Ballymena on Tuesday night.

Glens, managed by ex-Bohemians boss Declan Devine, are second in the Premiership table.

“When I received the call from Declan and Paul Millar (sporting director), the chance to join a massive club like Glentoran immediately appealed to me,” said Pattisson.

“I had followed Declan’s Bohemians side during my time at Waterford and admired the way his team played.

“Once I visited the club, met the players and heard Declan’s vision for Glentoran - particularly how he sees me contributing to the team - I knew this was the right move for me.

“Declan’s style of play, along with the hunger, fight, and ambition I’ve seen from this squad, has made a strong impression on me.

“I can’t wait to get started, experience the incredible atmosphere created by the Glentoran fans at the BetMcLean Oval, and play my part in driving the club’s push to climb the table and bring trophies back to East Belfast.”

Boss Devine said: “I’m delighted to welcome Christie to Glentoran.

“Having watched him closely at Waterford last season, I was impressed by his direct and dynamic style of play, his versatility on both wings and his tireless work ethic.

“Christie has bought into the vision that the coaching staff and I have for this club. He’s already trained with the team and demonstrated his determination to make an immediate impact.

“Once he’s fully integrated and up to speed, I have no doubt he’ll be a fantastic addition and a key player as we push for a strong second half of the season.”

Glentoran face Ballymena again this Saturday, this time away, with Patittsson in contention to make his first league appearance.

Pattisson, on a visit to Maidstone, told last month how he was looking for a new club with his contract ending at League of Ireland Premier Division club Waterford.
