West Farleigh under-13s may have missed out on the double - but what a season it’s been.
Newly promoted to Division 2 of the Maidstone Youth League, they won their first title with a 100% record.
In winning all 16 games, they scored 105 goals and conceded just 21 to seal a fourth successive promotion.
They also knocked out two Division 1 sides en route to the Challenge Cup Final before losing to another in Chatham at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 after a cagey first half, they were 3-1 down within three minutes of the restart.
A fourth Chatham goal effectively ended the contest, with Farleigh hitting the post late on.
Manager Stuart Gilbert said: “I am hugely proud that this group of friends, many of whom started playing together at this club from the age of six, have seen their hard work, determination and team spirit rewarded with a first league winners trophy and a Cup Final.
“They are a relatively small team from a rural village on the outskirts of Maidstone who regularly punch above their weight against opponents from larger catchment areas and with bigger resources.”
