Frannie Collin can add his name to the list of freak injury victims after being bitten by a dog.

The Maidstone striker was at work when a Bullmastiff sunk its teeth into his leg.

He missed the Charity Shield win over Hendon but there was little sympathy from
team-mates or Stones fans who broke into a chorus of ‘who let the dogs out?’ after word spread.

Collin, a plasterer, said: “I thought the house I was working in was empty. I opened the wrong door and there were two Bullmastiffs.

“One jumped up and bit me on the side of the leg. I was a bit shocked but didn’t feel in pain.

“It was only when I saw the blood coming down my leg about 30 seconds later that I thought I better go to A&E to make sure it wasn’t infected.

“I had a tetanus jab and they gave me antibiotics just in case but it’s all fine.

“I’ve had a load of stick from the boys about it and then 15 minutes into the second half on Saturday, the fans started singing ‘who let the dogs out?’”

Collin returned to training on Tuesday and is fit for United’s National League South
opener at Sutton.

It’s a level he knows well.

“This league suits me a lot more because of the type of football played," he said.

“I’ve always scored 20-plus goals and I’ll be looking for that again."
