Maidstone Rugby Club launching women's section with Q&A on Tuesday, January 17

Maidstone Rugby Club are to launch a women’s section.

There’s a Q&A session at the club on Tuesday (7.30-8.30pm) where plans will be outlined, with between 20 and 25 names already down to attend.

With Maidstone new to the women’s game, they see an opportunity to attract novice players.

“We do have some experienced players on board but we’re very much aiming at women who’ve not played before and trying to get them into the sport,” said director of rugby Steve Oram.

“There’s more than a couple of experienced women’s teams in the area but if you’re new to the sport and don’t want to go straight into a league, come along.

“The plan is to spend the rest of this season getting everyone used to it and hopefully next season we can look at getting some friendlies in.

“Women’s rugby is getting more and more popular. We should have a women’s section.”

Interested players can register for the Q&A by clicking here or simply turn up on the night. The minimum age is 18.
