Maidstone have signed Fulham defender Jaydn Mundle-Smith on loan until the end of the season.
It's the area United needed cover the most, with skipper George Elokobi and Joe Ellul their only recognised centre-halves.
Mundle-Smith has been with Fulham for eight years and captains their under-23 side.
He spent time on loan with Maidenhead in the National League last season, linking up with Ellul.
The 21-year-old has trained with United this week and is in contention to face Dorking in the FA Trophy tomorrow, subject to FA and National League approval.
Stones boss Hakan Hayrettin spoke about his plans to strengthen the squad after Tuesday night's 3-2 win at Eastbourne.
"The market’s open,” said Hayrettin.
“Obviously Covid is a big factor in what we’re going to do but we have protocols in place to deal with it and there could be some players coming so we can have a look, from league clubs.”
Mundle-Smith isn't the first Maidstone player with Fulham connections in recent seasons.
Charles Banya and Joe Anderson - two players signed by Jay Saunders - both started out at Craven Cottage, while Aron Davies played on loan under Hayrettin and John Still two years ago.
