Boss Harry Wheeler says Maidstone's FA Cup tie against Oldham is one of the biggest games in the club's history.
United meet the former Premier League outfit and two-time semi-finalists in a second-round tie at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday.
Preparation has been far from ideal after back-to-back defeats in the National League and now top scorer Blair Turgott has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a knee injury.
But there's no pressure on Maidstone as they look to upset the League 2 Latics and seal a place in the third round for the first time since losing to Sheffield United in 1988.
Oldham, who reached the semi-finals in 1990 and 1994, are 13th in their division.
But they don't lose many games, suffering only six defeats in 20 league games this season.
They were unconvincing in the first round, needing two late goals to win at National League South club Hampton & Richmond.
But Wheeler believes they will be a different proposition to Macclesfield, who United beat to reach this stage.
He said: "This is one of the biggest games in the club's history. It's a massive game.
"It’s a game we’ve got to go into and see what we can get. It’ll be a tough game but one we’ll be looking forward to.
"I watched the Hampton game and I've seen them again and I think they’re a strong side.
"We need concentration for 90 minutes, execution for 90 minutes and doing the right things in the right areas, but it’s going to take a lot more than that to beat them.
"It’s a break from the league, which we probably need. We’ll try and make things right."
The Stones are missing Simon Walton, who serves a one-game ban, while new signings Sean Shields and Dan Wishart are cup-tied, along with Rob Swaine.
