Maidstone loanee Jack Doyle is set to return to Blackburn for a scan.
The left-back rolled his ankle at training on Friday and it's feared there may be a fracture.
His loan runs out in January and United are hoping they haven't seen the last of the popular Scouser.
Stones boss Harry Wheeler said: "There's a possible fracture, so it could be a bad one.
"He’s just going to go back to Blackburn to see what the damage is.
"He’s going to have a scan there Monday, I think, and from there we’ll have to make a decision."
Wheeler isn't ruling out a return for Gold Omotayo, who is back with Bury after completing a month-long loan.
He signed off with a goal as United won 2-0 at Barnet on Saturday.
Wheeler said: "I’m not saying we won't renew it but officially that’s the last one so it’s nice for him to get that goal.
"If it’s renewed, great. If it’s not, then that’s a positive for him to have scored as well.
"We’ll speak to them and see where they’re at.
"He’s not played all the time so we’ve got to be aware of that in fairness to the boy but he’s also an asset and he can help.
"We’ll have to have a chat with Bury and see where the land lies and what decision is made."
