Elliott Romain wasted no time showing Maidstone fans what he's all about.
The new signing from Dagenham struck two minutes after coming on as United dumped Leyton Orient out of the FA Cup.
It was a typical Romain goal, busting a gut to force a mistake from O's defender Marvin Ekpiteta and finishing clinically.
He said: "That's my game, just chasing down defenders, don't let them get any peace.
"That's what I did and I finished it as well, so I'm happy with that.
"I always give 100%. That's what everyone's going to get."
Romain, who scored against the Stones back in August, was aware of Harry Wheeler's interest.
Dagenham boss Peter Taylor resisted initial advances before giving the striker permission to leave.
Romain, 26, said: "They've asked a few times but he's said no.
"When they asked the last time he said he'd consider it.
"So he spoke to me and what his plans are for the team, bringing in other players, and we both thought it was best for me to move on.
"It's a good club, I enjoyed my time there. I went on loan a couple of times, once to Welling and once to Torquay.
"I was enjoying being back there playing every week but it's just a new chapter."
Romain likes the set-up at Maidstone and feels he can only benefit from his move to the Gallagher.
He said: "I've always played against Maidstone over the years, from Ryman South level up to National League level.
"It's always been a big club and the support's brilliant.
"I spoke to the gaffer and had a conversation and we thought it was best for me to come.
"I can see myself getting chances and that obviously means goals.
"When I first trained on Friday, everyone's 100% on it, everyone's sharp.
"Obviously you're only going to get better with that sort of training.
"That's very important. If you do that all the time, in a game you're going to be exactly the same, which is what everyone wants."
