Joe Ellul has a new club - a day after leaving Maidstone.
The big defender has joined Isthmian South East outfit Sittingbourne, much to the delight of Brickies boss Ryan Maxwell.
"I think I've signed the best centre-half in non-league possible for us," said Maxwell.
"It's a statement as he's everything I want in one of my players.
"He's a winner and will be a huge influence on everyone at the club."
Ellul, 34, was a big favourite at Maidstone, helping them to the National South title last season and winning the supporters' player-of-the-year award.
The former Braintree and Maidenhead man was a regular in the National League this season but left the Gallagher Stadium by mutual consent yesterday due a to a new job opportunity away from football.
He's dropped three levels to continue his career and is looking forward to helping third-bottom Sittingbourne climb the table under Maxwell.
"Joining Sittingbourne is massive for me - a new adventure and something to get my teeth into," said Ellul.
"As soon as Ryan called, I knew I was going to a manager hungry for success and a will to win just like me.
"I look forward to the remainder of the season, making a charge up the table."
Ellul is set to make his Sittingbourne debut at home to Sevenoaks this Saturday.
