Former Maidstone United defender Chris Smalling has been called-up to the England under-20 squad.
Smalling is in an 18-man squad for the friendly against Italy on Tuesday March, 31 as England youngsters begin their preparations for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
It continues a remarkable rise for the 19-year-old who started last season playing in the Stones' youth team.
He went on to make 11 appearances for the first team, before being transferred to Premier League side Fulham during the summer.
He has captained the Cottagers reserve side this season but, although he has been an unused substitute for the first team, he has yet to make his debut.
