Grammy-nominated DJ Nic Fanciulli rushed back from Ibiza to see childhood friend Jay Saunders lead Maidstone into the play-off final.
Local boy Fanciulli – one of the biggest DJs and producers in the world – jumped on a plane after finishing his set at Pacha on Sunday morning and was back in time to see United beat Truro.
Stones fan Fanciulli said: “I’ve got my season ticket here and always try and get to the important games.
“I had it planned to come straight back on the plane. I finished at 7am, got on the plane at 9am and then came here. I haven’t slept yet but it was worth it.
“I’m a Maidstone boy so it’s nice to have that association. I’m just gutted I can’t come on Saturday to the final - I’m in Ibiza. I’m in Albania Wednesday, Luxembourg Friday, Ibiza Saturday and Brussels and Paris on Sunday.”
Fanciulli and Saunders go back years and the DJ can’t speak highly enough of the job his friend has done at the Gallagher.
He added: “We used to play football against each other when we were younger.
“We’ve got close again over the last two or three years, since I’ve been coming back to Maidstone quite a bit and following the team.
“He was a great player and I know we’re mates but what he’s done at this club is unbelievable.
“With the budget he’s on – they run the club so well here, strict, like Arsenal – he’s done a wonderful job, not that I would say that to his face!”
