Maidstone manager Jay Saunders feels Alex Flisher has done himself a disservice.
Flisher said he didn’t think he would ever be the player he was before his 2014 knee injury.
But, after capping an excellent performance with his first goal since October as Stones won 3-1 at Wrexham, Saunders said: “I think he’s being a bit harsh on himself.
"He’s got a lot of ability, you can see today he can still cause people problems. I think with full-time training he’ll get better.
"Flish knows his fitness is always an issue but he’s worked hard on it and games like today he has an effect.
"He’s got to get that more regularly and going full-time he’ll do that.
"To say he’ll never be back to what he was, as you get older, you always change anyway.
“You’re never the same as what you were when you’re fresh, when no one knows about you and you’re coming into the game.
“When you’re at this level, people do a lot more homework on you so it’s always harder.”
