French company offers to buy stake in Stones

MAIDSTONE United could receive some foreign investment after a French company offered to buy 25 per cent of the club.

Chairman Paul Bowden-Brown revealed the board have agreed in principle to the offer, which would free up funds to develop the club.

Mr Bowden-Brown said: "We have been in discussions for over six months and when the offer was made it was an easy decision for me to make.

"For the first time I had met someone who is prepared to join the board of directors, become part of the club and work with us to bring the club home to Maidstone and build the new stadium.

"The offer will allow the club the financial cushion we need at this time time to complete our Football Foundation bid. It could not have come at a better time."

The deal is expected to be concluded and the new presently unnamed investor announced within the next few weeks.
