English welterweight champion Sean Noakes visited Snodland ABC to train the children and offer valuable advice to their aspiring boxers.
The 29-year-old is just weeks away from his next fight at London’s York Hall on Friday, March 7, where he will defend his English title for a second time in the main event of a Frank Warren-promoted show, live on TNT Sports.
The Maidstone man advised the amateurs to always work hard both in and out of the gym as he visited the club on Thursday, February 13.
Noakes had 40 amateur bouts himself, losing just six and winning national titles, so his words were well received.
“I always like coming down to the amateur gyms,” he said.
“Grassroots is where boxing is at its most pure so I do enjoy coming down to watch and support.”
Sean and his brother Sam Noakes, a British and European champion, are due to attend Snodland ABC’s next boxing show on March 15 at the Community Centre in Paddlesworth Road.
The boxing brothers will aim to attend with their championship titles for photo opportunities.
Trainer Danny Ianson said: “It was good of Sean to take time out of his busy schedule to see us and it gave the boxers a big boost to spend time in the presence of a champion.
“We’re hoping he will come to our next show on March 15 to support the boys, and we are currently looking for sponsorship from local businesses to help with expenses.”
