New fitness coach Harrison Grant is making a big impression on Maidstone boss Jay Saunders.
Grant has replaced Paul Booth, who couldn't commit to daytime training, and comes on recommendation from another ex-Stones player, Matt Bodkin.
With United now training three mornings a week, Grant has time to get the players in top shape for the new season.
Saunders said: "He’s very qualified in all the strength and conditioning, the fitness side, nutrition, everything, and I think at this level it’s very important, especially now we’re going daytime.
"We tried to bring someone in last year before Boothy and it didn’t quite work because I don’t think they had the time and the hours they needed, whereas Harrison’s got a lot more time with them now.
"I think he’ll be a big benefit to us. The lads are enjoying having him in there.
"He was down here Thursday before training doing some extra sessions with three or four of the boys, some strength and conditioning.
"It will benefit us in a lot of ways. It’s not something you’ll see immediately within the first week but it’s interesting.
"He sat there second half against Barnet on Saturday and straight away he said ‘I can see which players need certain things doing’ - and everyone is different."
