Coach Paul Hathaway wants Maidstone to be ruthless in their London 2 South East derby at Aylesford.
Leaders Maidstone are expected to claim a comfortable victory against their local rivals who are without a point at the bottom. But Hathaway is taking nothing for granted ahead of the clash at the Jack Williams Ground on Saturday.
He said: “I’d like to think it will be one-sided but you can never assume these things.
“We’ll be preparing the same as any other game and will take nothing for granted, but we’re looking for a comprehensive win.
“There’s pressure in that it’s a local derby but I’d like to think, as a group, we’ve progressed beyond that. It’s like any game, when you’re playing to the best of your ability and it leads to a big score, players get a buzz.”
It will be Hathaway’s first experience of an Aylesford versus Maidstone derby and he’s well aware of the rivalry.
He said: “I’m new to it this season but there’s always been rivalries in Kent which generates competition.
“What I don’t like is the negativity that comes with a rivalry and sometimes creeps into the game."
