Head coach Paul Hathaway praised Maidstone’s superior fitness in their 62-0 derby win at Aylesford.
Maidstone led the London 2 South East clash 14-0 at half-time before piling on 48 more unanswered points in a one-sided second half.
Hathaway said: “We set out to play at a good tempo but the last pass sometimes wasn’t as accurate as it ought to have been. The opportunities were there, but it was just the final execution. That’s something we’ll continue working on.
“In the second half, as Aylesford tired, we maintained our intensity and found more space. We scored early, in the first few minutes of the second half, and that set the tempo for the rest of the game.
"We were able to control things after that – although Aylesford weren’t ever going to roll over at home in a derby game."
As comfortable as the victory was, Hathaway insists league leaders Maidstone still have lots to work on.
He said: “As coaches, when we watch the video, we will be pernickety because there are small margins between being a good team and an excellent team."
Maidstone entertain Deal & Betteshanger on Saturday.
