Dennis McCann says he will be even better than Naseem Hamed after being likened to the British boxing legend.
Promoter Frank Warren and former heavyweight world champion David Haye made the comparison after the 18-year-old bantamweight stopped Georgi Georgiev inside two rounds at the Royal Albert Hall last Friday.
The Maidstone boxer floored his man three times in a terrific performance that had fans and pundits drooling over his potential.
McCann was proud to be compared to Hamed, the flamboyant former WBO and IBF world featherweight champion, but he intends to eclipse his career.
"It's great to hear that from Frank and David Haye," said McCann, whose new record is 4-0.
"It's a very proud moment when you look at everything he achieved.
"I 100% think I can be better than him. In fact, I don't think I will be better than him, I know I will be, and Frank's of the same opinion.
"Frank loves me, he does. I'm his favourite. He even said that himself."
McCann was pleased with his performance against durable Bulgarian Georgiev.
The teenager promised a stoppage in the build-up and didn't hang around.
He said: "I thought I boxed well. You don't get paid for overtime, do you?
"The geezer hadn't been stopped for a while so it's made a statement.
"I felt great in there to be honest - I trained hard for it."
Warren wants McCann to work towards a British title shot.
He's not even old enough to fight for a Lonsdale Belt yet but McCann knows his time will come.
He said: "I'm too young. The British Boxing Board of Control say you have to be 20.
"To be honest, I think I'd beat them all now. If I were to fight for it now, I'd beat all the bantamweights.
"When I'm fighting for the British title they're going to need a very, very big arena."
