Maidstone striker Shamir Mullings is showing former club Forest Green what they’re missing.
Summer signing Mullings vowed to prove a point after leaving Rovers under a cloud and has scored in his last two Stones matches.
He’d worked hard to reach the Football League but was frozen out by manager Mark Cooper after only seven appearances.
The 24-year-old felt he was unfairly painted as the bad guy and wants to show what he’s about at Maidstone.
He said: "I enjoyed every bit of it but I don't feel I was given much of an opportunity.
"In pre-season I scored four goals and I was coming off the bench in all of the games.
"When I got my chance, I came off the bench against Exeter, scored and we lost 3-1.
"I started the next game, against Lincoln, and we lost 1-0.
“The next game, he started me against Port Vale and I came off at half-time. I didn't play again.
“It was the 16th of September, 2017. That was my last league game.
“As a coach, Mark Cooper's very, very good but I feel like he didn't give me the chance to actually show him what I can be like and what I can do when a manager trusts you and puts his arm around you and says to express yourself.
"When I say I've got a point to prove, Forest Green made me out to be the bad guy and obviously you've got a lot of fans who turn around and say you're not good enough, etc.
"I don't really care about the fans' opinion but I'm not a bad person, I'm not a bad player and I wanted this year to prove to everyone who thought I was that bad person that the move to Forest Green wasn't a fluke."
