Injured Maidstone striker Jack Harris is hopeful he will soon be back in action.

Harris was stretchered off with a knee injury just half an hour into his first Maidstone start on Tuesday night.

There were fears the 19-year-old could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines just a week after signing from Tunbridge Wells.

But Harris said: “The knee’s sore and there’s a bit of swelling but I’m walking on it, which is good, so hopefully it’ll be OK.

“I’m not sure what happened. I planted my leg and it kind of buckled under me and I felt a sharp pain.

“I don’t know at this stage how long I’ll be out for. It’s all a bit up in the air but I want to be back sooner rather than later.”

Harris made his debut as a late substitute in Stones’ victory over Enfield last weekend before being named in the starting line-up to face Herne Bay in the League Cup.

He added: “Everything was going so well but injuries are part and parcel of football and you just have to get on with it."
