Head of football John Still says it won't be an upset if Maidstone beat Torquay in the FA Cup first round.
The Gulls are fifth in the National League, just two points off the top, after winning the South title last season.
But while Still has nothing but respect for the job Gary Johnson has done at Torquay, he feels Maidstone have every chance of victory at the Gallagher Stadium this Saturday.
Still said: "Supporters from either side might look at it as an upset but I'm not so sure.
"For argument's sake, if West Brom played Burnley in the FA Cup and beat them, would it be an upset? It's Championship against Premier League but I don't think so.
"If York, who are top of National North, beat Chorley, who are bottom of the National League, would that be an upset? Again, I don't think it would.
"The fact Torquay are going really well, people might look upon it as a shock if we win but I don't think it would be, no.
"It might surprise people but it wouldn't be a shock."
Still is looking for an unlikely hero to help Maidstone reach the second round for the third year running.
That's what he'll be telling the players before the game and has promised to go on the attack.
He said: "I think it will be an entertaining game because we don't particularly want a midweek journey to Torquay.
"If we draw, we draw, but we're not going into it trying to hold on, we're going to try and attack and win the game and I'm sure they will play the same way.
"It doesn't matter who's favourites because this is the FA Cup.
"We've had difficult spells in games when we've been favourites and I'm sure Torquay will on Saturday.
"It's about our XI finding a way to beat their XI.
"I always say the same thing before FA Cup, this competition has a way of throwing up unlikely heroes, so can the unlikely hero be playing for us?
"It might be someone who hasn't featured much or maybe hasn't had the best of seasons, or it might be the right-back that pops up at the back post and scores.
"It's unlikely heroes in the FA Cup and hopefully the unlikely hero will be wearing our shirt.
"I've always loved the FA Cup. Whatever stage I've come in, I've always thought to myself, can we get a great draw and look back and say we've had a good time?"
Sam Corne (knee) could be fit enough for the bench but leading scorer Matt McClure (thigh) is still out.
The winners of Saturday's tie earn £36,000 and go into the draw for the second round which will be shown live on BBC2 on Monday night (7pm).
