Ashley Jackson has been selected for the Team GB hockey squad preparing to challenge for gold at this year's Beijing Olympics.

At 20-years-old, the former Sutton Valence School pupil is the youngest member of the squad although the Olympics is not his first international tournament.

Having made his England debut in 2006 against Holland, Jackson went on to play in the Eurohockey Nations Championships last year and then as part of the winning squad in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Santiago, Chile, earlier this year.

Jackson, who was born in Chatham and lives in West Malling, plays as a forward and will be moving to Dutch side HGC next season having played for East Grinstead where, on the domestic front, he was the Premier Division's top scorer in 2006/2007 and won the Hockey Writer's Club Youth Player Award in 2006.

The Olympic hockey competition starts on August 10 at the Beijing Olympic Green Hockey Stadium.
