Ben Jelf maintained his lead in the British Powerboat Championship with a second place and two thirds at Oulton Broad.
The Maidstone powerboater, a winner last time out in St Helens, had the extra competition from former British champion Steve Hoult this time out, but he fared well to stay top of the standings ahead of the next round in Beford later this month.
Starting heat one in fourth, Jelf battled with locals Leon Wigg and Colin Stewart for second and third place before grabbing that third spot.
A red flag interrupted heat two but when Hoult suffered technical problems Jelf took advantage for second behind Wigg.
The third and final grand prix heat started under handicap rules, with Jelf forced to wait 36 seconds before chasing down Ray Birnie.
Wigg went on to take the chequered flag with Hoult securing silver and Jelf bronze.
"I faced some formidable competition this weekend and there was strong racing from us all," Jelf said.
"Steve was unlucky to have engine trouble and is certain to give us all a strong battle at the final round of the championship in September."
Chatham's George Elmore, racing in the GT30 class, started heat one from pole position and held the lead to the chequered flag. He went on to secure the grand prix win, too.
