Maidstone manager Jay Saunders is amazed Tom Mills hasn’t moved on to bigger things as the defender prepares for his 300th appearance.
Mills hits the milestone when United host Wrexham in the National League on Saturday.
At only 24 it’s quite an achievement for the left-back who has been one of Stones’ most consistent players for years.
Saunders, who chalked up his 300th game as Maidstone manager at Boreham Wood on Monday, is convinced Mills is good enough for the Football League.
He said: “To get to 300 games at his age says it all about Millsy. Every time we’ve gone up a level, he’s adapted.
“It normally takes him six or seven games but this season he’s hit the ground running.
“I’m amazed no one’s taken a gamble on him. In all the years he’s played under me, I’ve never seen a better left-back in Ryman South, Ryman Prem or Conference South and he can get even better. It’s great that we’ve got him, it certainly makes my life easier.
“I like having him around the place, he never misses games or training and doesn’t pick up many injuries.
“You can put him out there every week and you know what you’re going to get. I can’t fault him.
“He’s been great for me and hopefully that will carry on for a long time. He knows we look after him and he loves it here.”
