SOUTH AFRICA'S firebrand pace bowler Andre Nel has signed for the Lashings World XI.

The 27-year-old has played 15 Tests for South Africa since his debut against Zimbabwe in the 2001/02 season, taking 62 wickets.

Lashings chairman David Folb said: "It is going to be an incredible experience seeing such a fired up bowler as Andre over here with us.

"I’ve always wondered just what he says to batsman, so perhaps we can get him wired for sound and find out."

New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns will be cutting short his stay with Maidstone-based Lashings due to personal commitments.

But he is expected to play for the first three weeks of their season, including matches against the Sussex and Leicestershire county sides as well as a variety of village clubs and charity sides.
