Walton Casuals 1 Maidstone United 2
A DOUBLE from Ryan Royston clinched the Ryman League Division 1 South title after a nerve-threading afternoon at Walton Casuals on Saturday.
Royston had glanced the Stones in front in the 22nd minute after a cross from Sam Tydeman.
But the celebrations were put on hold 13 minutes after the restart when Walton's Michael Cobden found the top corner of Pat Mullin's net with a fierce drive.
Before the jitters could set in, Royston restored the Stones' advantage when he nodded in a trademark long throw from Aaron Lacey.
With results elsewhere not going Maidstone's way the final half hour saw the Stones live on their nerves and a breathtaking six-and-a-half minutes of injury time were played before United were confirmed as champions.
