Top scorer Jamar Loza feels another year at Maidstone could be just what he needs.
It seemed inevitable Loza would be on his way back to the Football League after a flying finish to the season.
The former Norwich striker intends to weigh up his options but is open to staying, believing United are capable of reaching League 2.
Loza, who finished with 10 goals, said: “I’m playing men’s football week in, week out.
“I’m in a team that like me, that kind of depend on me and I like that responsibility in terms of being the main man.
“Hopefully next season the team kick on and I’m sure if we do keep the same squad, we can easily push for the play-offs - easily.
“I’m not 100% sure what’s going to happen, to be fair.
“I’ve had a strong end to the season but throughout the whole season it hasn’t been that great.
“So maybe the best thing is to have another year in the National League and have a solid whole season and then move on, or maybe it’s the time now.
“Obviously I’d want to stay ideally because I’m enjoying it here and it’s going great but I’ll be silly not to look at other options.
“Hopefully I can get something sorted here.
“It’s somewhere I really enjoy, it’s close to home, so I’m more than happy to be a part of the club’s future and take them into the Football League if that’s possible.”
Loza, who has four caps for Jamaica, saw a move to Port Vale fall through before joining United in October.
His pace, trickery and goals make him an obvious target for scouts but at 22 there’s no rush to return to the professional game.
He is, though, wary of leaving it too long.
Loza said: “I’m still young in terms of my career but at the same time I’m not a youngster, I’m 22, turning 23 soon.
“Time waits for no one, you’ve got to make it happen.
“When you’ve got a chance, you’ve got to take it, whether it’s here or somewhere else.
“I’m excited for the future, whether it’s here, because I know Maidstone will be back in the league soon, or somewhere else.
“Whether I’m here or not, I’m sure we’ll have a really successful season.
“Hopefully I’ll sort my future out soon because the fans here are incredible.
“I think they deserve to know what’s going on and the club should know where they’re going with it.”
