Jay May is staying at Maidstone United.
Last season's 24-goal top scorer has signed a new one-year deal at the Gallagher Stadium.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "It took a bit of negotiating but you need a big, strong man at any level and he would have been very hard to replace had we lost him.
"There was certainly interest in him, as I'm sure there has been in a lot of our players."
May said: "I had a few calls from other clubs but I never sat down with anyone else because I knew I wanted to stay at Maidstone.
"Everyone knows each other in non-league and clubs do sniff around to see what people's plans are."
May is the fourth Maidstone player to commit to the club this week.
Alex Brown, James Rogers and Matt Bodkin have also been handed one-year deals.
