Midfielder Jake Gallagher has left Maidstone, the club have announced.
Gallagher joined the Stones from Dorking last summer, having been a long-time target of manager Hakan Hayrettin.
The former Welling and Aldershot man was ever-present in the opening months of the season before picking up an injury at the end of October.
He returned as a late substitute as Maidstone beat Tonbridge in their opening game of the new year but has decided to step back from full-time football.
Stones boss Hayrettin said: "Jake will always be welcome back here any time. He's someone I wanted to sign last season and was delighted to get him here this season.
"He's been a great character to have around the place and we will miss his presence in the dressing room and out on the field.
"He leaves with our very best wishes and I hope the next stage of his career - in and out of football - is a success.
"If he needs anything, he knows I'll always be on the end of the phone for him."
