Maidstone midfielder Ollie Muldoon has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a scan on his knee.
The former Charlton and Gillingham man has had dreadful luck with injuries since joining the Stones in September.
He was sidelined with a hamstring injury soon after signing, aggravating it further after attempting a comeback, and was forced off with a knee problem at Bromley last month.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "I'm gutted for him. I think he's played four games for me and come off injured in three of them, and he's never had an injury in his career.
"It's a big blow to us. I think he's someone with a lot of ability and would have been a good addition to the squad but unfortunately these things happen and we've got to move on.
"Luckily we were able to bring Michael Phillips in so we've got the cover in that area to be able to deal with it."
Muldoon is out of contract this summer but Saunders can't say whether he's played his final game for the club.
He said: "We've just said to him, 'concentrate on getting yourself right and getting yourself fit and then we'll go from there.'
"Next season, we haven't even thought about yet.
"For us it's just making sure we're in this league first and then we'll look at it after that."
Muldoon had spoken of his determination to return only hours before his scan.
He said: "I didn’t have a pre-season, so I was always trying to play catch-up and it’s just been a very frustrating time for me personally trying to come to terms with being injured and not being able to train and play games.
“It’s not nice but you’ve got to adapt to that and work even harder to come back.
“It’s the thought of knowing what I’ve done before, playing games and winning games, that’s what drives you on to get back."
