Andre Coker and Dan Wishart have been told they are free to leave Maidstone.
Winger Coker and left-back Wishart are contracted for next season but don't figure in John Still's plans.
They haven't been transfer-listed but it may well come to that.
Maidstone head of football Still said: "We've had talks with them and spoken with their agents, in terms of they're not really in our plans, so we'll have to wait and see.
"We've left it with them for a little bit.
"Once we start pre-season, maybe just the week before, we'll put a circular out.
"There are clubs that like to sit back and wait and if players wait long enough sometimes they get better deals.
"When you go in now there might be two or three people looking at a player so they're in a little bit of a bartering situation.
"Well, once you start pre-season, or just into it, clubs are finalising their squads and if they haven't got what they want, sometimes they're prepared to pay a little bit more. That's how I think it works.
"We were lucky because we identified the players we've gone for, as opposed to waiting to see what comes up."
Former Crystal Palace youngster Coker joined Maidstone on a two-year deal last summer but spent most of the season on loan at Dartford, while Wishart signed from Sutton in November.
