Friendship was forgotten on Bobby-Joe Taylor’s return to Maidstone.

Taylor lined up for new club Aldershot on Tuesday night but there was no room for sentiment.

Stones midfielder Jack Paxman said: “I was looking forward to playing against him.

“He’s a good pal of mine, he’s a good player, but friendship goes out the window as soon as you cross the white line.

“I wanted to win as much as he wanted to win against us.”

Paxman had virtually nothing to do with Taylor on the night.

He added: “Do you know what, I haven’t really spoken to him.

“I’ve barely seen him. I didn’t even speak to him before the game.

“There were a couple of comments on the pitch but it was pretty much down to business.”

Paxman had been substituted by the time goalkeeper Lee Worgan and Jai Reason combined to set up Josh Hare’s injury-time goal.

But he enjoyed the moment from the bench as Maidstone earned a point.

He said: “We were all buzzing on the touchline.

“Worgs is taking a lot of credit for the way he controlled the ball out wide and sent it back out to Jai Reason.

“I’m just chuffed to bits to get a point against a very good team and hopefully that’s something we can build on now."
