Jack Paxman - Maidstone’s longest-serving player - has left the club on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder, who spent four years at the Gallagher, has linked up with former Stones boss Harry Wheeler at Billericay.
Paxman, 25, was transfer-listed earlier this month after failing to force his way into John Still’s plans.
There was interest from other clubs but the former Southend youngster has completed a move to Ricay.
Paxman had been hoping for a chance at the Gallagher, saying last week: “If it was my choice I would fight. If I was given the opportunity I would fight and earn my place.
"I'm the longest-serving player, I care about this place, it's been a big part of my career and I would always want the best for the club.
"If that means I can't be a part of it then unfortunately I'll have to take a step back but I feel I've got as much to offer this team as anybody.”
Paxman signed for Maidstone from Witham in March 2015, helping them win back-to-back promotions from the Ryman Premier to the National League.
As well as Wheeler, he joins Stones old boys Jamar Loza, Michee Efete and Jake Robinson at Billericay.
