James Rogers believes Maidstone team-mate Jack Paxman will end up back in the Football League – and is backing others to follow.

Paxman started his career at Southend and has ambitions to return to the professional ranks.

He’s been in and out of the Maidstone side in recent weeks – Jay Saunders has been reluctant to use the playmaker in scrappy away games on poor pitches – but there’s no doubting his talent.

Rogers said: “He’ll learn to deal with different pitches. Obviously if you’ve got a bog you can’t have four or five touches, like he does, but he’s 21 or 22 and has got a big future.

“With the ball, I’ve never seen feet like it – he’s mesmerising. He’s so good to play with. I think he’ll end up in the League and a few others will, too.”

Rogers reckons that Vas Karagiannis, Manny Parry, Alex Akrofi and Callum Driver also have a chance to play League football, and he also says new signing Callum Davies should aim for a return after joining Stones from Gillingham.

Winger Karagiannis has caught the eye since joining from Leatherhead, scoring twice, including a spectacular free-kick against Margate.

Rogers said: “As soon as I get the ball, I look for him. He’s a dangerous player. If he carries on the way he is, there’s only one way he’s going.”
