MEDWAY & Maidstone's Jennifer Pereira has been crowned under-20 women's champion of the Reebok Cross-Country Challenge.

Pereira, winner of the Reebok races in Falkirk in October and Belfast in January, was a convincing champion in her age group of the UK's premier cross country series.

She totalled 106 points, nine ahead of runner-up Sarah Blake (Penicuik Harriers), despite finishing ninth in the final race at Nottingham on Saturday.

In the senior men's 4km race, Andy Graffin, from Tonbridge, gave the crowd a glimpse of the class that took him to the 2000 Olympic Games for the 1,500m and, he intends, will lead him to this year's Games for the 5,000m.

He broke clear after only five minutes of sparring with the opposition and jogged home in 11:56, aloof from a frantic battle for the minor medals.

Anthony Whiteman, from Bearsted and now running for Coventry Godiva Harriers, was timed at 12:03 in the same race.

Ashford's Lisa Dobriskey took silver in the senior women's 4km race. The British Universities Champion started conservatively and moved through to second without really threatening to get to grips with the leader Kate Reed.
