Maidstone United midfielder Michael Phillips is wanted by Cray Wanderers.

The Ryman League Division 1 North strugglers have made a seven-day approach for Phillips and can speak to the player on Friday.

Crowd favourite Phillips missed the first three games of the season through suspension and has yet to force his way into the starting XI but remains in boss Jay Saunders' plans.

Saunders said: "I had a quick chat with Mickey to let him know about the approach and at the time he said he'd stay if I wanted him.

"I don't want him to leave. He knows what I think of him and I'm hopeful he'll stay.

"It was unfortunate for him being suspended at the start of the season.

"Alex Brown did well alongside Jack Parkinson and now James Rogers and Jack are looking good.

"But there's a lot of games to go and I'd like to think we can give Mickey enough football to keep him happy."

Substitute Phillips scored the second goal in United's 2-0 win at Lewes on Saturday.
