Maidstone 2 Ramsgate 3
MAIDSTONE shot themselves in the foot as they lost 3-2 to Ramsgate in the Ryman League Premier Divison at Bourne Park on Saturday.
The Stones made their customary abysmal start when Ray Freeman failed to deal with a routine throw-in and gifted Nick Davis an empty net after 69 seconds.
Mo Takaloo shot Maidstone level just four minutes later when his back header came back off the bar and he reacted quickest to score with an overhead flick.
Ramsgate should have gone back in front when Damian Abel hit the post when he had an open goal to shoot at.
However, Ramsgate did regain the lead seven minutes after the break through Stuart King who steered in a cross from near the penalty spot.
Maidstone equalised in the 73rd minute when Lyden Rowland headed in loan signing Jacob Erskine's cross, but just three minutes later another howler gifted Dan Dolton the winner.
Dolton was allowed too much time to shoot from 20 yards out but even then his effort should have been comfortably dealt with by keeper Pat Mullin who was totally deceived by the shot and didn't even move as the ball flew past him.
United have now lost five straight games to Ramsgate.
