Jay Saunders was almost lost for words after Maidstone lost to Barrow.
United are only six points above the National League bottom four after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at the Gallagher - their 15th game without a win.
Boss Saunders felt his side had more than enough of the play against a Bluebirds team largely content to sit on their first-half lead but they didn't look like scoring.
Saunders said: "We had a lot of possession, got in some great areas, put a lot of balls in the box but we couldn't score a goal.
"The one real good chance they had, they take.
"I'm not quite sure what to say to be honest.
"I don't think there was anything between the two sides.
"I thought we had the majority of the possession.
"If you look at entries into the box, we put a hell of a lot of balls in their box but we didn't gamble at far stick.
"Blair Turgott's put a great ball across the box at the start of the second half and no one's taken a chance on it and we've put countless number of balls in the box.
"I think the majority of the game, second half, was played in their half but they've taken their chance and we haven't taken ours."
Luke James scored Barrow's 31st-minute winner, another goal Saunders felt was avoidable.
He had new defender Will De Havilland available but decided against putting him straight into the side, having only signed on Friday.
Saunders said: "I didn't think it was right on Will to come in. He doesn't know anyone here.
"We went through a lot on set-pieces and making sure we could deal with their long throw and I felt throwing him in would be a big ask.
"Listen, for large parts the defence was OK but again we've had that one moment, we've switched off and that can't happen.
"Unfortunately it's happening every week so it's something we've got to look at."
