Jay Saunders got what he wanted from Maidstone’s match at Maidenhead.
The boss was desperate for a clean sheet after leaking 12 goals in three games and his team delivered.
It finished 0-0 at York Road on Saturday and Saunders was happy to leave Berkshire with a point.
He said: “With the pitch, the slope and the conditions, it was always going to be a difficult game.
“Maidenhead are a good side here, if you look across the course of the season they’ve beaten the likes of Tranmere.
“My main thing today was getting a clean sheet and not losing the game after the run we’ve been on, so that side of it pleased me.
“We’ve conceded 12 in the last three games and it becomes a mental thing.
“It was really important we didn’t concede today and we’ve done that, and that gets us back on track.
“Can we play better? Yes, we can play better, but after the recent results the big thing for me today was we didn’t lose the game.
“It was a big ask for us coming here but we stood up to what they had. I’m sure they’ll say they could have nicked it, and we could have nicked it.
“We’ll take the point and we’ll move on.”
Stuart Lewis felt he should have had a late penalty but was instead booked for diving by referee Adrian Quelch.
Saunders said: “It was difficult to see from where we were. Stu felt there was contact.
“I think by the players’ reaction, with Delano Sam-Yorke and Jai Reason, they did as well. I’d have to see it again.”
