Maidstone ended their away goal drought with a comprehensive win at Hampton & Richmond.
The Stones had failed to score in their past five games on the road but set the record straight thanks to Tom Leahy’s opener - his first goal for the club - and an Aaron Blair double.
Struggling Hampton, with one in their previous 11 matches, barely threatened as Alexis Andre Jr kept his 20th clean sheet of the season in National League South.
Maidstone were unchanged from the 3-0 home win against Chippenham last weekend as they set about keeping their play-off charge on track.
There wasn’t much room to play with on a tight Hampton pitch and both sides got the ball forward quickly in the early stages at the Beveree Stadium.
Chances were at a premium but Maidstone, whose last win here came in an FA Trophy tie a decade ago, took charge with two goals in three minutes late in the first half.
The opener came in the 34th minute and what a lovely goal it was, too, with the visitors enjoying a spell of possession through Bivesh Gurung, Charlie Seaman, Blair and Jordan Higgs before the ball reached Temi Eweka.
The Stones defender drove deep into Hampton territory before finding Ben Brookes, whose cross was volleyed home by on-loan Millwall man Leahy.
Number two soon followed with George Fowler’s lovely backheeled flick in the box setting up a close-range header for top scorer Blair.
Hampton mustered only one effort in the first half, and that was always going wide from Renedi Masampu after a short free-kick.
Maidstone strengthened their grip on the game by adding a third goal five minutes into the second half.
The ball reached Blair just inside the area and he took it past keeper Dylan Berry, who was in no man’s land, before squeezing his shot home.
Hampton, having made their first substitution at half-time, went for a triple change on the hour in a bid to find a way back into the game.
But Maidstone were well in control by and never looked like giving anything away.
