Substitute Will De Havilland scored an extra-time winner as Maidstone beat Woking in their FA Trophy first-round replay.
He powered home a header with four minutes remaining as United finally saw off their National South opponents, having twice been pegged back on the night.
Michael Phillips’ first-half header was cancelled out by Aaron Eyoma as the teams went in level at half-time.
Jake Cassidy restored the lead straight after the break, only for Cards substitute Paul Hodges to make it 2-2.
Aryan Tajbakhsh replaced the suspended Ollie Muldoon in the only change from Saturday’s draw at Kingfield.
Elliott Romain saw a shot spilled by Craig Ross in the opening seconds while Jack Powell’s deflected free-kick went out for a corner as Maidstone twice went close before taking the lead.
The goal came in the 34th minute when the excellent Sean Shields’ cross was met by Phillips, whose header looped in over Ross.
For the Cards, Max Kretzschmar thumped a shot inches over after a corner was cleared to the edge of the box, while Ross Worner made a decent save from Noel Leighton’s shot on the turn.
Their equaliser came in the 42nd minute with former Stones loanee Greg Luer working the ball to Eyoma and the on-loan Derby man beat Worner.
Eyoma almost gave Woking the lead in first-half injury time but Worner made a smart save with the ball heading for the top corner.
Maidstone regained the lead a minute into the second half after good progress down the left by Dan Wishart.
It looked as though he was going for goal when he dragged the ball across the box but it fell nicely for Cassidy to turn home.
Leighton missed a golden chance to level soon after, while Cassidy hit the side-netting at the other end.
Maidstone conceded the equaliser 10 minutes from time after Jack Paxman gave away possession in his own defensive third.
Nick Wheeler’s cross was met by a poor defensive header from George McLennan and Cards substitute Hodges volleyed home.
Paxman’s spectacular shot from distance went just over in the first period of extra time.
A big chance then fell to Woking when Joshua Casey’s cross reached Hodges in the six-yard box, Worner with an excellent save low to his right.
Shields had an effort blocked in the second period, with Toby Edser wasting a good chance at the other end from Kretzschmar’s cross to the back post.
Maidstone’s winner followed in the 116th minute with Shields doing superbly out wide on the left before standing up a cross for De Havilland to head home.
Ross twice denied Romain a fourth in the dying moments.
