The battle at the top of Ryman League Premier Division took another interesting twist as second-placed Margate lost 3-2 at Hendon, while leaders Maidstone thumped play-off chasing Leiston 4-1.
Two goals from Jay May and two from Alex Flisher earned Maidstone a 4-1 win and sent them five points clear.
Rivals Gate were beaten at Hendon, despite two goals from skipper Charlie Allen.
Elsewhere in the division, VCD Athletic moved off the bottom thanks to a Michael Power hat-trick.
They led 2-0 after just 13 minutes, but visitors Harrow Borough pulled one back through Ryan Hope on 38 minutes before having striker Stephen Butterworth sent off just before the break.
However, the 10 men levelled with just eight minutes left thanks to Marc Charles-Smith, but with time running out Power popped up with the winner in the final minute.
Meanwhile Tonbridge Angels slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Grays Athletic.
Trailing to first-half goals from Dumebi Dumaka and Freddie Ladapo, Tom Parkinson pulled one back with 19 minutes remaining, but they couldn't find another.
