Fabio Saraiva scored his first Maidstone goal this week and now he’s desperate to play against his former club Merstham in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who left the Surrey club in the summer, came off the bench to open his Stones account in a 4-0 win against Thamesmead on Tuesday.
And he could be in line for a starting role when Maidstone visit Moatside for this weekend’s second qualifying round clash.
Saraiva said: "It’s against my old club, so I really want to play.
"I couldn’t believe it when the draw came out. I was in the car with a friend who plays for them when I got the text.
"I was ecstatic, buzzing to play.
"I’d love to go back there and score.
"It’s going to be weird to go back there because I’m still young and I was there for almost three years."
Saraiva started the first two games of the season but was then dropped and a short spell in hospital meant he hasn’t got back in the Maidstone team since.
But with fellow midfielder Alex Brown injured, boss Jay Saunders may have a vacancy in his starting XI.
Saunders said: "Browny’s come off with his hamstring, so it’s something we’ll look at now. Merstham know about Fabs and he knows about them because he was there for a long time."
