Maidstone are the form team in National League South and manager Jay Saunders says they are proving that they belong at this level.

Stones host St Albans on Saturday having won their last four league games without conceding a goal to move into the play-off spots with almost a third of the season gone.

In all competitions, they’ve won six in a row and are unbeaten in seven – a run which stretches back to August.

After two promotions in the last three seasons, could Saunders lead United to a third in 2015/16?

He said: “I hope we can stay around it because it would be good for the club and good for the players, but only time will tell. I think we belong here and we’re showing at the moment that we do.

“I think the squad is quite strong when you look at the bench – Rogers, Manny on Saturday, Watty’s been there, Frannie’s on loan, Alex Brown’s injured, Bobby-Joe was on the bench on Saturday, Alex Akrofi. But it will be how people react after a couple of losses.

“People keep asking ‘can you sustain it and go for promotion?’ but we haven’t spoken about it. We’ve got an honest group and they want to push on.”

St Albans have won just twice all season and arrive at the Gallagher in the relegation zone. Fresh from their 2-0 win over Dunstable in the FA Cup last weekend, Maidstone are likely to be unchanged.
