Manager Jay Saunders has emphasised to his Maidstone players the job is only half done after they reached the Ryman League, Division 1 South play-off final.

The Stones beat Folkestone 1-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final thanks to substitute Paul Booth’s second-half strike and they take on Faversham at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday for a place in the Ryman League, Premier Division.

Saunders, pictured, said: "I felt there were a lot of celebrations after Tuesday night but the job’s only half done. It’s no good getting to the final and losing. There were one or two nerves with players not wanting to be the one to make a mistake.

"Now we’re through, I hope we’ll settle down for the final."

Maidstone lost 2-1 at home to Faversham only three weeks ago, a result that effectively ended their title hopes.

Saunders said: "They stopped us winning the league but it’s not about revenge. The boys just want to go out there and win promotion, the same as Faversham do."

Tim Olorunda is ruled out through injury while fellow midfielder Alex Brown (ribs) is a doubt.
