AFTER scoring a brilliant goal for Maidstone at Thurrock on Tuesday, Errison Ahwan is feeling in the best shape ever – and it could be down to a decision to ditch his motor car.

The midfielder capped a fine display with a stunning goal in the 1-0 win over the Essex side before explaining he was feeling the benefits of an active summer.

"Compared with how I started last season, I’m completely different now," said Ahwan. "I’m doing a lot more running, and I’m not driving.

"I can walk to work now, so it didn’t make financial sense to keep my car. I’m walking and running everywhere, and I really felt the benefits on Tuesday. I felt much stronger and fitter.

"Even though I scored a few goals last year, I still don’t think I played my best, so I’m really looking forward to this season.

"I just feel there’s a lot more to come, and I think the fans know it as well."
